Marshals Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot and Everything We Know

Nearly four months have passed since Marshals, Taylor Sheridan’s first Yellowstone sequel spin-off, wrapped its first season — and its finale left fans hungry for another dose of Dutton-family drama. Fortunately, Season 2 is set to arrive sooner than viewers may expect.

As a quick recap, Kayce (Luke Grimes), Mo (Mo Brings Plenty), Cal (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle (Arielle Kebbel), Cruz (Ash Santos), Miles (Tatanka Means), and Tate (Brecken Merrill) united to take down an armed group sent to assassinate Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). By Episode 13, however, the central characters had gone their separate ways. Cruz prepared to leave for Washington, D.C.; Belle and Cal partnered on an investigation before Cal’s oncology appointment; Kayce’s connection with Dolly (Ellyn Jameson) deepened; and Tate headed to Texas for a fishing trip with Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey), who appears poised to become Season 2’s primary villain.

With several major threads still unresolved — from romance and personal turmoil to high-stakes conflict — Marshals has plenty of ground to cover in its second season. Fans are also watching for a possible crossover with Dutton Ranch, the Yellowstone sequel spin-off starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.

Will Marshals return for Season 2 on CBS and Paramount+? When will the new season premiere, what time will episodes air, and is there a Season 2 trailer? Here’s what to know about the next chapter of Marshals, from its premiere date and preview footage to streaming details for Season 1.

Will There Be A Season 2 Of Marshals? Marshals Season 2 Renewal Status:

Yes, Marshals is officially coming back. In March 2026, ahead of the show’s third episode, CBS handed the series an early Season 2 renewal. The decision followed a blockbuster debut that CBS called the “best network TV launch since 2017” and the “most streamed CBS episode ever.”

MARSHALS delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The overwhelming viewer response speaks to the strength of the YELLOWSTONE world, the bold character-driven storytelling from the creative team and the dynamic cast performances led by Luke Grimes.”

When Does Marshals Return On CBS? Marshals Season 2 Release Date:

Marshals Season 2 debuts Sunday, October 4, 2026, on CBS and will stream on Paramount+. The official synopsis for Episode 201, “All Hat No Cattle,” reads: “When Kayce realizes Tate has been taken hostage, he goes rogue in a desperate race to save his son as the Marshals uncover a powerful criminal operation tied to the East Camp land grab. A violent showdown ensues, putting everything Kayce cares about at risk.”

When Does Season 2 Of Marshals Come Out? What Time Does Marshals Come Out?

Beginning October 11, Marshals will return to its usual Sunday slot at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. For the Season 2 premiere on October 4, though, the series will air at 8:30 p.m. ET because of an NBC doubleheader.

What Will Marshals Season 2 Be About?

The Marshals will tackle new cases in Season 2, but the show also has no shortage of unfinished business from the Season 1 finale. Cruz was preparing to trade Montana for Washington, D.C., raising questions about how she will rejoin the team. Belle and Cal were under fire as their investigation intensified, while Kayce’s growing relationship with Dolly could move into new territory. Meanwhile, Tate’s fishing trip with Tom Weaver took a dangerous turn, leaving viewers to wonder how he will get home safely — and what Weaver plans to do next. A first look at Marshals Season 2 offers a glimpse at the turmoil ahead.

Is There A Marshals Season 2 Trailer?

Yes, a trailer has arrived. Released September 2, the action-packed Marshals Season 2 preview sets the stage for a major fight ahead. Kayce is determined to honor the Dutton legacy of “always having to fight” — for his son, his fellow Marshals, his chosen family, and his land.

When Does Dutton Ranch Season 2 Return?

While Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch was also officially renewed for Season 2, there’s no official Dutton Ranch Season 2 premiere date on the books yet. That said, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that “production [is] slated to begin early 2027.”

“We’re slated to start early 2027 to film,” Reilly told THR in July. “But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it.”

Assuming production sticks to the predicted timeline, here’s hoping Dutton Ranch Season 2 will premiere in 2027. Stay tuned for more updates!

Based on the Season 2 trailer, we get the sense that Tate’s rescue will happen fairly quickly and perhaps not require any help from Kayce’s Texas fam, but we’ll ultimately have to wait and see what Sheridan has up his sleeve. And since Marshals is returning much sooner than Dutton Ranch, there’s still hope for Kayce to appear in Dutton Ranch Season 2 to try to help rescue Carter. Until we know more, here’s our case for a crossover.
