A Florida woman and her adult son allegedly told investigators they had engaged in a sexual relationship for several years, according to authorities.
Christina Clemens, 46, is charged with incest and open adultery after investigators said she acknowledged the encounters took place at her home in Lakeland, jail records reviewed by Oxygen show.
Her biological son, 23-year-old Shane Clemens, was initially charged with incest as well. Court records now indicate that charge has been dropped.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a video briefing that deputies became involved after Christina reported that Shane had allegedly assaulted her during a domestic violence incident.
“Shane, you ought not to ever lay a hand on your mama for a lot of reasons,” Judd said, adding that the alleged family relationship gave him “one more reason” not to do so.
Deputies arrested Shane at the scene. During a subsequent interview, however, he reportedly described another issue that had led to the confrontation.
According to an affidavit obtained by Oxygen, Shane told investigators the argument began because he was “tired of having sexual intercourse with his mom.”
Shane reportedly did not live with Christina while growing up, but the two reconnected after he turned 18.
He allegedly told detectives that he initiated a sexual encounter before realizing Christina was his biological mother. The sheriff’s office noted, however, that Christina was identified as his mother on his birth certificate.

Shane claimed the alleged relationship began when he was 18 and involved oral, vaginal and anal sex. Investigators also reported finding sex toys near Christina’s bed. The affidavit states that Shane said cameras in the living room and bedroom had recorded some of the encounters.
Judd said investigators directly asked Christina whether she had been sexually involved with Shane since he turned 18. According to the sheriff, she replied that it had happened “only about 100 times.”
Christina is married, but her husband reportedly told investigators he had not known about the alleged relationship between his wife and son.
“He said, ‘No, I absolutely was not, but I think I am a little suspicious that they used to go into the master bedroom and lock the door,’” Judd said, describing the alleged conduct as both disturbing and illegal.
The affidavit also states that Shane told investigators the encounters occurred when the two were alone or while the rest of the household was asleep.
Christina remains held at the Polk County Jail. Jail records show that Shane was released on Sept. 17.
Oxygen contacted Christina’s attorney for comment but did not receive a response. Court records did not list an attorney for Shane.
