The attorney representing the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial is disputing the claim that his client refused to follow the law. Speaking with Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, attorney Edward Paltzik said juror Michael P. Desronvil had no uncertainty about his position.
In a preview of an interview scheduled to air Monday on “Fox & Friends,” McEnany asked Paltzik whether Desronvil had ever experienced reasonable doubt after the jury foreperson sent the judge a note accusing him of refusing to apply the legal standard.
“Michael had zero doubt,” Paltzik said.
“Zero doubt. No doubt, and he had evidence to back up his position?” McEnany asked.
“A lot of evidence, a mountain of evidence,” Paltzik replied.
Desronvil was the only juror who did not reach an agreement after seven days of deliberations in Clancy’s trial.
The other 11 jurors were prepared to find Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. Desronvil instead continued to support a conviction.
Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. 4.
Clancy admitted killing 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan at the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023.
Her defense maintained that postpartum psychosis made her not criminally responsible for the killings.
Prosecutors argued that Clancy understood her actions and had planned the killings.
Desronvil later said the physical evidence and witness testimony convinced him that Clancy knew what she was doing.
Prosecutors have not said whether they plan to retry Clancy.
She is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29.
Fox News contacted defense attorney Kevin Reddington for a response to the accusations, but he did not respond to the network’s inquiries.
