Earlier this year, Elizabeth Banks revealed that she had imagined Effie Trinket as possibly gay.
Speaking to The Advocate, she said: “Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games might be gay. I see the Capitol as pansexual, much like ancient Rome, where everyone is involved with everyone.”
“I think Suzanne Collins created Effie as a nurturing, maternal figure in her own way, so she is probably a woman. But I certainly saw plenty of drag Effies in West Hollywood last Halloween.”
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in the UK on 21 November and in the US on 22 November.
