GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Beverly Sue Hollriegel, 60, was arrested after authorities said she pointed a long gun at a neighbor during a dispute over the boundaries between their properties.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the 2100 block of NW 55th Terrace at approximately 2:26 p.m. on October 13. The neighbor told investigators that he and Hollriegel had been arguing about the property line separating their backyards before she allegedly aimed the weapon at him.
The neighbor reportedly provided cellphone video of the encounter. According to the deputy’s report, the footage showed Hollriegel pointing the long gun in his direction and ordering him to leave her property. The two were standing in their respective yards on opposite sides of a fence. Although the video did not capture the entire confrontation, the deputy said it did not show the neighbor making an aggressive move toward Hollriegel.
The neighbor told deputies he feared he would be shot. An examination of the weapon, however, determined that it was a BB or pellet gun capable of firing projectiles rather than a conventional firearm, according to the report.

Hollriegel faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records indicate she has no criminal convictions, though an earlier violent-offense charge involving another person was eventually dismissed. The neighbor appeared in court and told the judge that Hollriegel’s conduct had been escalating and that he was concerned for his safety. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000.
