Strictly Fans Demand Presenter’s Exit, Declaring ‘Enough Is Enough’

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have said they are growing tired of seeing Emma Willis across so many prime-time programmes. The 50-year-old presenter is currently appearing on the BBC dance competition and its Sunday results show, while also fronting ITV’s The Voice immediately beforehand. She co-hosts ITV’s Cooking With The Stars alongside comedian Tom Allen on Monday nights, presents Netflix dating series Love Is Blind with her husband Matt Willis, and features in the U&W programme Emma Willis: Delivering Babies.

The busy television schedule has prompted some fans to call for less screen time for the presenter, with several claiming she has become “over-saturated.”

Posting on Reddit, one viewer admitted that Emma was her “secret girl crush” but said the presenter was now appearing too frequently. Comparing her to Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond, the user wrote: “She’s becoming over saturated. She reminds me of Holly. The face of every prime show. Followed by Alison Hammond.”

The viewer continued: “Emma is fronting Strictly and The Voice. Two prime-time TV shows. I tuned into a show last night. Was celebs cooking, hosted with Emma and Tom Allen.”

Although praising Emma’s ability as a presenter, the Reddit user questioned why broadcasters were not giving other hosts more opportunities. They also suggested the BBC could leave her out of the results programme to give audiences a break, writing:

“Brucey didn’t do the results show… I don’t want to get Emma fatigue,” they added.

Several viewers on X expressed a similar view. One posted: “Amazing that Emma Willis is on mainstream TV for four consecutive hours every Saturday, Strictly and The Voice. Clearly there’s a shortage of presenters!”

Another wrote: “Currently, Emma Willis is on Strictly and The Voice at the same time, sick of her…”

A third viewer said: “Emma Willis on both ITV and BBC at the same time tonight. She does know if she’s on all the time viewers will lose interest in her. Less is more.”

Not everyone agreed, however. One person responded: “It depends on your viewing habits surely. I only watch her in [Strictly], so no fatigue for me.”

Earlier this month, Emma discussed her latest Strictly role during an appearance on the spin-off programme It Takes Two, describing the experience as “a whirlwind.” Explaining how she and Josh Widdicombe work behind the scenes, she said: “Josh and I sit right at the back where no one can see us in view on the telly and we watch everything. We watch the audience, we watch how the judges react, we watch the dance as well, and everything we do is what we’ve just observed.”

She added: “We take it in the moment. If it’s gone really well and they’re super excited, we react to that. If it hasn’t gone quite so well, we’ll react to that. Normally, they can’t breathe or speak, so we just go, ‘Hey, let’s turn to the judges!’”

Emma also admitted that announcing the dance-off results is the most difficult part of the job. “I really don’t enjoy it,” she said. “I love my job and I love being a part of it, but I just feel so sorry for them. We do see how much work they put into it, how much they love doing it and how painful their bodies are by doing it, and you don’t want to be the one to say, ‘Thank you so much, bye!’”
