“Street Fighter” is filled with moments that may leave viewers scratching their heads. Although the movie’s ending is possible to decipher, its deliberately broad conclusion feels less like a subtle hint at a sequel and more like an outright advertisement for one. Fortunately, the film has a major strength in its casting. Blending globally recognized stars, emerging performers, and familiar faces better known for work outside traditional acting, the movie assembles a vivid ensemble that captures the larger-than-life spirit of its video game characters.
That approach begins with the central hero. Ken, played by Noah Centineo, receives a significant share of the spotlight, but Ryu remains the franchise’s defining protagonist—and the movie keeps him at the center of the story. Andrew Koji brings a committed performance to the character, balancing Ryu’s quiet intensity with the slightly awkward humor that makes him feel true to the games. His background also makes him a natural choice for the role, given his long history of playing formidable fighters and warriors. Here are some of the projects where you may recognize him.

Andrew Koji knows the way of the warrior
Koji began working as an actor in the 2000s, gradually building momentum through guest appearances and recurring roles during the following decade. His major breakthrough arrived in 2019, when he appeared as Brilliant Chang in “Peaky Blinders” and began playing Ah Sahm, the lead character in Cinemax’s historical martial arts crime drama “Warrior.” Koji remained with the series for all three seasons.
Since then, Koji has become a familiar presence in several prominent film and television productions. He portrayed Storm Shadow in the 2021 G.I. Joe movie “Snake Eyes” before joining the ensemble of Brad Pitt’s 2022 action thriller “Bullet Train,” which follows a group of assassins aboard a high-speed train. In 2024, he played Jason in the first season of Netflix’s Keira Knightley spy series “Black Doves.” The following year, he joined Season 3 of “Gangs of London” as Zeek. In 2026, Koji took on the role of Darren Yoshida in the Prime Video crime thriller “Steal.”
Those roles, along with his many other film and television appearances, have established Koji as an actor worth watching. Leading the cast as one of the most important characters in the “Street Fighter” movie could push his growing profile even higher.
