When are Powerball drawings and how much do tickets cost?
Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with the results televised live at approximately 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, or 7:59 p.m. Pacific. Ticket sales generally close about an hour before the drawing, although deadlines differ by state.
A Powerball play costs $2. Players select five numbers from 1 through 69 and one Powerball number from 1 through 26. Those who prefer not to choose their own numbers can use a computer-generated Quick Pick.
Players can add Power Play for an additional $1 per play. The feature boosts non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times, based on the multiplier selected for that drawing. Powerball tickets are available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
