It’s heartwarming that Heidi Klum found a husband who shares her passion for Halloween. In 2018, she and Tom Kaulitz went undercover as Fiona and Shrek, but that costume now seems downright simple compared with their 2024 transformation into E.T.—complete with the famous “phone home” look—for Klum’s annual Halloween party.
“It took one year to get ready,” the Project Runway host told E! News at the event. On the day of the party, she added, “We started at 10 a.m. this morning. We just got ready, we just came down.”
By comparison, their costumes the previous year—Klum as Medusa and Kaulitz as the warrior she had turned to stone—were relatively low-key. That transformation required five months of planning and 10 hours of work on the day itself.

“This year wasn’t that difficult,” Kaulitz told E! at the party. Klum, however, revealed that “about 15 people” helped create and hand-paint their elaborate costumes, praising the team for doing “a fantastic job.”
The couple has already offered a glimpse of what they’re preparing for this year—and the early hints look gross. In the best possible Halloween way, of course.
