Dylan Dreyer’s world changed dramatically following her divorce from Brian Fichera. With three young sons to raise after the couple split in mid-2025, the Today meteorologist had to rebuild her daily routine from the ground up. One of her biggest changes was leaving Manhattan for the Long Island suburbs. She has also leaned on her mother, Linda Bullington, who revealed in October 2026 that she often stays for months at a time to help Dreyer manage the demands of career and motherhood.
Dreyer’s boys — Cal, Ollie and Rusty — have full schedules, and keeping up with their activities requires plenty of support. Still, adjusting to having her mother back in the household after years of living independently was not always effortless. During an appearance on the “The Parent Chat” podcast, Bullington teased her daughter about the state of her home, prompting Dreyer to reply, “You’re not a very neat person.” Beneath the playful exchange, however, Dreyer made clear how thankful she is for the help. “I don’t think a couple of years ago my mom ever thought that she would be living with me, emptying out backpacks, cleaning off the lunchboxes, and helping me run everybody around,” she said. “But it is what it is, and now she’s here, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.”
Although Dreyer is gradually settling into life on Long Island, she still feels nostalgic for Manhattan. In July 2026, she recalled on Today that she once could have watched the parade from her window, adding that she moved away “a little too early,” according to Hello! The transition has also brought the ongoing challenge of balancing a high-profile television career with the nonstop responsibilities of raising three energetic children.
Dylan Dreyer had to work on her parenting expectations
For Dreyer, the hardest part of life after divorce has been parenting. The pressure became such a central part of her experience that she created The Parent Chat podcast, where she talks openly about motherhood and letting go of the idea that any parent can be perfect. Speaking to Parents in June 2026, after receiving recognition at the 2026 Parents Next Gen Awards, she admitted, “I hit my breaking points sometimes at the end of the day, and I’m just trying to make the best life for the kids.” She added that it was “really wild” to learn that others relate to her struggles and view her as an inspiration.
While nearly every aspect of her life had to be reworked, Dreyer says co-parenting with Fichera has been surprisingly manageable. In fact, the former couple now communicate more effectively than they did during the later years of their marriage. “We’ve reframed our relationship,” she explained on “Today” in November 2025. “We’re no longer husband and wife. And all those things that were broken — I don’t hold them against [him].”
Dreyer is determined for Cal, Ollie and Rusty to see their parents enjoying one another’s company rather than witnessing tension or resentment. She says spending time with Fichera feels easier now that their relationship has changed. The pair even marked their first Thanksgiving after separating together, and Fichera remains a regular guest at Dreyer’s home for dinner. “For us, it’s what works, and the boys don’t see fighting. They see nothing but love,” she told Parents.
