A 23-year-old Kentucky woman allegedly ran a red light while fleeing police, then crashed into another vehicle, ejecting a passenger who later died, authorities said.

Jhonna’Kaye Parra is facing charges of murder, first- and second-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and first-degree criminal mischief, according to jail records reviewed by Law&Crime.

The identity of the man who died has not been released publicly.

About 11 a.m. on Oct. 27, a Louisville Metro Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle near South 24th Street and Garland Avenue in Louisville. Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen in Peru, Indiana, roughly 190 miles to the north.

The driver, whom police allege was Parra, reportedly refused to pull over and sped away, local ABC affiliate WHAS reported. Investigators said she attempted to pass a vehicle stopped at a red light, ran the signal and struck another vehicle in the intersection. The impact caused her vehicle to overturn.

A man was reportedly riding in the vehicle allegedly driven by Parra and was thrown from it during the crash. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but died two days later.

Parra and another woman were also hospitalized. The other woman suffered a broken hip, while two occupants of the vehicle that was struck were treated and released for injuries described as nonserious, according to the television station.

Parra was arrested after being discharged from the hospital. Her booking photograph shows her wearing a neck brace.

Parra is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 12, according to area CBS affiliate WLKY.
