Clash of Clans Update: Global Chat Makes a Comeback on June 16, 2026 – Key Details Revealed

In 2019, the removal of Global Chat from Clash of Clans sparked a significant outcry from a segment of its community. This feature was seen as the social core of the game, and its elimination left a void that neither clan recruitment tools nor external Discord servers could completely fill. Now, nearly seven years later, Global Chat has made a triumphant return.

The comeback is part of the latest Anime Fury update, a comprehensive overhaul that presents a reimagined chat system, markedly different from the one players once knew in Clash of Clans.

Everything revealed about Clash of Clans Global Chat’s return

Alongside the reinstatement of Global Chat, the Anime Fury update introduces a series of enhancements, including new levels, new spells, and the ability to Fast Forward Live Battles. However, the revival of Global Chat undoubtedly steals the spotlight.

The development team has transformed Global Chat into three distinctive tiers, each designed to cater to diverse purposes and varying audience sizes within the Clash of Clans community.

The team has rebuilt it into three distinct levels of chat, each serving a different purpose and audience size in Clash of Clans.

Groups

Groups are player-created spaces that can be set as Public, Invite-Only, or Private, giving the creator full control over who gets in. The member cap sits at 800, and groups that grow beyond 600 members have the option to convert into Communities.

This tier is designed for tighter-knit gatherings, whether that is a recruitment hub, a strategy group, or just a crew of players who want a dedicated space to talk.

Communities

Communities are also player-created but are always public. The member cap here scales up significantly to 50,000, making this the option for large-scale clan networks, content creators building audiences, or anyone looking to run a high-traffic space.

One thing worth noting is that message history in Communities is limited to the past 12 hours, so it is a live, rolling conversation rather than an archive.

Town Square

Town Square is the most distinctive of the three tiers. It is always public, always visible, and every player is automatically added without needing to opt in. This is where major launches, live events, community moments, and surprise drops will play out in real time.

The structure here is slightly different from the other two. The ability to post messages belongs to Ambassadors, which includes Creators, Community Managers, and Special Guests. Everyone else participates through reactions. Think of it as a live broadcast space where the community shows up and responds rather than a free-for-all chat.

How the rollout for Global Chat is being handled in Clash of Clans

Supercell is taking a staged approach to the launch. For the first two days, only Creators can create groups. After that window, the feature opens up to all players.

Member caps may also scale upward over time as the team monitors how everything holds together under real usage conditions.

Safety measures built into the new Global chat system

Given that the original Global Chat in Clash of Clans was removed partly due to moderation challenges, the safety side of the rebuild has clearly been a priority. The measures in place include:

  • ‘Every chat message is player-reportable’
  • ‘Players cannot share website links’
  • ‘Anti-spam rate limiting is active’ across all chat types
  • ‘Communities will always run with the Family Friendly filtering option’ enabled

It is also worth flagging that Supercell will never ask for a login code, password, or personal information through chat. Anyone asking to move a conversation outside the game should be reported immediately and flagged to support through the game itself.
