The finale of the first season of Witch Hat Atelier saw Qifrey gearing up to defend his apprentices as ominous silhouettes began to emerge from the shadowy depths of Romonon's ancient tunnels.

As revealed in Episode 12, the chilling golden statues glimpsed in the teaser were once people of Romonon. Transformed into gold by the city's witches, these unfortunate souls were labeled as unworthy. Condemned to a torturous fate, the vengeful spirits of Romonon harbor a deep-seated animosity towards all magic practitioners.

Qifrey does appear to be fighting them off in the teaser, but the odds of victory are looking grim with the white-haired witch’s severe injuries. The chances worsen given the fact that Tetia and Coco know very little magic that would be helpful in combat.

However, every arc in the anime has given Coco a lesson, and the anime's current arc, The Second Pentagram Test, is no different. From the spite of the Romonons will come the harshest and most brutal of the lessons she's learned thus far.

Euini’s dire situation serves as another test for Coco from the Brimmed Caps. At the behest of Iguin, who is also seen in the teaser, Sasaran cast the transformation spell on Euini to force Coco into relying on Forbidden Magic to reverse it. Although cruel, the act is meant to show Coco that the answers she’s looking for will not be found by following principles of the self-righteous Pointed Caps.

Just after Iguin makes his appearance in the teaser, fans are given their first glimpse of Coco donning the signature style of the anime's first villains. Witch Hat Atelier details the ideologies of both the Brimmed Caps and the Pointed Caps, with the story centered on Coco's struggles on the fine line between either side of magic.

At the current point in the anime, Coco is primarily allied with the Pointed Caps. However, the appearance of her decked out in a Brimmed Cap outfit is symbolic of Coco’s beliefs slowly aligning with those of the antagonists, even if she doesn't agree with their cruel methods.

The end of the Witch Hat Atelier Season 2 teaser returns eager audiences to the Great Hall, located at the very bottom of the ocean. Not a lot of time was spent exploring the Great Hall in Season 1, but it does serve as the center point of witch society. The teaser's focus on it means that viewers will become better acquainted with the place that Qifrey is so adamant to avoid.

At the top of the Pointed Caps’ hierarchy sit the Three Wise, who are highly skilled and renowned witches who were given the honor of overseeing witch society across Zozah and upholding its principles.

The opening sequence for Witch Hat Atelier Season 1 glimpses the Three Wise in a fairytale-esque illustration, but Crunchyroll’s teaser drops a sneak peek of Beldaruit, the Wise in Teachings, as well as a very important figure to Qifrey.

Whenever Witch Hat Atelier Season 2 releases from BUG FILMS' studios, it will be well worth the wait that's coming.
