In a recent episode of his podcast We Were Fighting Before This, popular Twitch streamer Jeremy “Disguised Toast” shared his thoughts on fellow content creator Thomas “Sykkuno” and the persona he presents online. The discussion, co-hosted by Yvonne “Yvonnie,” has sparked significant conversation, particularly after a clip from the show gained traction on social media platform X on April 30, 2026.
Disguised Toast expressed his belief that Sykkuno’s “shy anime boy” image was well understood to be a crafted persona, rather than an authentic personal trait. He suggested that this characterization was something most people recognized, though he also highlighted the fervor of Sykkuno’s fans when it came to defending this persona.
During the podcast, Toast pointed out that while many individuals might not have been convinced by Sykkuno’s act, his dedicated fanbase often reacted negatively when others questioned or challenged his online image. He described these reactions as “toxic,” particularly noting the backlash from fans whenever someone publicly pushed back against Sykkuno’s carefully curated persona.
The insights provided by Disguised Toast have certainly stirred the pot, encouraging a broader discussion about the roles and responsibilities of content creators in portraying themselves online and the influence of their fan communities in shaping public perception.
The DSG esports team owner went on to say that “a lot of guys maybe didn’t buy Sykkuno’s act,” adding that the Las Vegas native’s fans would “get really upset” if someone “pushed back on his persona publicly”:
“I think a lot of guys just maybe didn’t buy Sykkuno’s act. I thought we were all in the joke. But, to be fair, in the past where any one of us would push back against that persona publicly, his fans would get really upset at us, like, quote-unquote bullying him. I had to yell at his fans or be yelled at by his fans because I was treating him like an adult.”
Disguised Toast calls out Sykkuno’s fanbase for being toxic
During the same podcast episode with Yvonnie, Disguised Toast criticized Sykkuno’s fanbase for being toxic, claiming that his online community “bullied” people.
The Taiwanese-Canadian personality elaborated:
“But to the Sykkuno fans that were toxic, … all of you. I swear to god! I am so cheesed at what happens horrible, but I hope you guys take a … look in the mirror and realize that UwU boys and being toxic on behalf of the guy that is just a streamer and bullying other people just because they voiced their opinions? Just because they are like, ‘Hey, Sykkuno, maybe you shouldn’t pull your knife out in this Valorant tournament, with 40 other creators, just so you can farm one clip.”
As of this writing, Sykkuno has not responded to Disguised Toast’s recent comments about him and his fanbase.
