The popular isekai series, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, cherished by Crunchyroll fans, is facing an unexpected schedule shake-up. The episode initially planned for release on May 1 has officially been canceled.

According to an announcement on the official TenSura website, the production team of the anime has decided to pull the May 1, 2026 broadcast on NTV and its 28 affiliated stations due to unspecified scheduling conflicts. This episode was intended to be the fifth installment of Season 4 and the 77th episode overall, marking the first disruption in the release pattern of the current season.

To fill the gap, BS11 will broadcast a special recap program on May 2 at 10 p.m. JST. This special will feature Miho Okasaki, the voice behind Rimuru Tempest, alongside presenter Haruka Mori. Together, they will revisit the series’ journey so far while offering glimpses of what the future holds for fans. The anime is anticipated to return to its regular programming schedule the following week.

That Time I Got Reincarnated Season 4, Episode 5 Hit With Unexpected Delay

Instead of the new Reincarnated as a Slime episode, BS11 will air a special recap program on May 2 at 10 p.m. JST. The broadcast will feature Rimuru Tempest voice actor Miho Okasaki alongside presenter Haruka Mori, looking back at the story so far while teasing what still lies ahead. The anime is expected to resume its regular schedule the following week.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 debuted on April 3 as part of NTV’s Friday Anime Night block at 11 p.m. JST, with additional broadcasts on BS11 and international streaming via Crunchyroll. The new installment of the popular isekai series has been planned as a five-cour production, with its first two cours currently airing. The remaining cours have not yet received release dates.

Following the conclusion of Season 3 in September 2024, the franchise quickly confirmed both a fourth season and a second theatrical film. That movie, Tears of the Azure Sea, premiered in Japan on Feb. 27, 2026, continuing the series’ steady expansion across both television and theatrical releases.

Based on the light novel series by Fuse, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime follows Satoru Mikami, a salaryman who is reincarnated into a fantasy world as a slime. Taking the name Rimuru Tempest, he uses his unique abilities to form alliances, build a nation and navigate increasingly complex political conflicts.

Since its original 2018 anime debut, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has remained a consistent awards contender. Rimuru Tempest won “Best Protagonist” at the 3rd Crunchyroll Anime Awards, while the series later took home “Best Fantasy” in 2022 following Season 2. Most recently, Season 3 was nominated for “Best Isekai Anime” in 2025, although it was beaten by Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 3. Season 4 of the latter isekai series is likewise currently airing now and streaming on Crunchyroll.

Episode 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 is set to release on April 17, followed by Episode 4 on April 24. Episode 5 has not yet been rescheduled, per the series’ official notice. In the meantime, the 30-minute Season 4 recap special will air on May 2 at 10 p.m. JST (8 a.m. EST).
