During a solemn dawn ceremony in London, the Princess Royal paid tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by laying a wreath in honor of Anzac Day. The service, a significant commemoration, took place in the early hours at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner.
Princess Anne, at the age of 74, arrived just before the start of the ceremony at 5 a.m. She placed a wreath of vibrant red poppies, a symbol of remembrance, as part of the tribute to the fallen.
Organized by the High Commissions of New Zealand and Australia, the service featured a poignant reading of John McCrae’s famous wartime poem “In Flanders Fields.” The ceremony concluded with the stirring national anthems of the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia, uniting those present in shared remembrance.
For the occasion, Princess Anne was elegantly attired in an emerald green tailored coat, which she matched with a structured hat and black gloves, signifying the solemnity and respect of the event.

Anzac Day is observed annually on 25 April and commemorates the 1915 landing of troops in the First World War to the beaches of Gallipoli in northwest Turkey.Â
Additional services were held in Australia, New Zealand and Gallipoli to commemorate the occasion on Saturday morning.
The day was also marked in in Villers-Bretonneux, a village in the Somme region of France, which Australian units helped defend during the war.

A post to the Royal Family X account on the event read: ‘Today is #ANZACDay – which honours the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.’

Princess Anne’s appearances comes as the Princess of Wales is due to attend an Anzac Day wreath-laying and parade service at the Cenotaph.
The Princess, 44, will attend at a service of commemoration and thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.Â
She will represent her father-in-law King Charles III at the event, which marks her official return to duty after an Easter break.Â
In 2019, Kate attended a previous Anzac Day commemoration alongside Prince Harry at Westminster Abbey, and in 2022, the Princess appeared at a service alongside her husband, the Prince of Wales.
