Former President Donald Trump has announced his intention to engage in an extensive conversation about the ongoing conflict in Iran during his visit to Beijing, where he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Despite this, Trump minimized the necessity of securing Chinese assistance to resolve the situation.
“I don’t believe we need any help with Iran. We’ll achieve victory one way or another,” Trump stated confidently from the White House lawn. “We’ll secure it either through peaceful means or otherwise,” he added.
When questioned about his intended message to President Xi regarding Iran, Trump acknowledged Xi’s cooperation. “Honestly, I think he’s been pretty good. Look at the blockade; there’s been no issue. They source a significant amount of their oil from that region, and we’ve encountered no problems. Plus, he’s been a friend of mine,” Trump remarked.
However, moments later, Trump seemed to downplay the importance of discussing Iran with China, asserting that the United States has the situation “very much under control.”
He emphasized that their primary focus during the discussions would be trade, which he described as “more than anything else.”
We have a lot of things to discuss; I wouldn’t say Iran is one of them to be honest with you, because we have Iran very much under control. We’re either going to make a deal or they’re going to be decimated,” he said.
