Boxer Hannah Rapp Murder Case: Suspect’s Bond Tops $1M

In a shocking development, the man accused of deliberately running down and killing the talented boxer Hannah Rapp now faces a staggering bond amount exceeding $1 million.

This past Tuesday, July 28, as reported by local CBS affiliate KBTX, Charles Medina, age 31, appeared before a Texas court where a judge imposed bonds not only for his current legal troubles but also for prior charges he was previously out on bond for. These decisions follow the tragic incident on July 18 that resulted in the untimely death of Rapp. The combined total of the bonds amounted to $1,229,000.

Us has sought a statement from Medina’s attorney regarding the situation.

KBTX detailed the individual bond amounts, charging Medina $500,000 for “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” and another $250,000 for “manslaughter.” These charges arise from the heartbreaking accident where 26-year-old Rapp was struck while cycling in College Station, Texas.

An additional bond for “criminal mischief” was set at $25,000 and dated Tuesday, July 21 — the day Medina was arrested — while another bond for $250,000 was set for “deadly conduct – bond revocation” without a disclosed date.

Two other bonds stemmed from alleged historic charges: “evading arrest” on March 17, 2025, and “deadly conduct” on February 14, 2024.

According to the outlet, Medina’s legal team had requested that their client be issued bonds set at “$50,000 on each of his charges,” with Medina’s attorney, Sarah Wilkinson, stating in court that the bonds set “were excessive.”

Medina is accused of fatally striking Rapp after passing two cyclists on the morning of her death before stopping, reversing and striking one of them, later identified as Rapp, who died at a local hospital.
