Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo have broken up fairly recently, and the drama has been non-stop since then. There have been cheating allegations against both of them, and while the former Summer House couple have been trying to be discreet, that doesn’t mean they won’t share their sides of the story.

A few days ago, Paige threw a surprising allegation at Craig, and the Southern Charm star wasted no time defending himself. Here’s what he said:

Not long ago, Paige DeSorbo shocked fans with the claim that Craig Conover had been texting other women throughout the duration of their relationship, and she apparently confronted Craig about it after rumors of her cheating started going around.

“I’m like, ‘Craig, what are you talking about?’ I feel like you’re so betraying me right now,” she said about the rumors. And then, she dropped the bomb.

Days after that, Craig stepped up to defend himself.

“I never cheated,” he said to Tamron Hall about the accusation during an interview on Feb. 17, and he emphasized in the importance of being with someone you trust.

“And I think the best thing you can have in a relationship is that security. Not worrying what your partner’s doing. So, no I wasn’t. But you can’t control people.”

He also went on to say that his loyalty is one of his best qualities, something that his Southern Charm co-stars allegedly pointed out.

“Shep [Rose], my costar on Southern Charm was like, ‘That’s the most frustrating thing about you, is how loyal you are.”

At this point it’s worth pointing out that, while he vehemently denied cheating on Paige, he said nothing about whether or not he was texting other women, so it’s still possible that Paige found something she thought suspicious, even if Craig didn’t do anything wrong.

Despite all the conflict that followed their breakup, it seems Paige and Craig really did love each other and tried very hard to make things work. In fact, when she announced their split, Paige had nothing but great things to say about her ex-boyfriend.

“I think he is one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life,” she praised him on her and Hannah Berner’s Giggly Squad podcast. “I will remain the biggest fan for him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best, because he is the best. But, with that said, I think it is the right decision for both of us.”

“I love him, I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing.”

“I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want, and I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real time and what you want for your future.”

Let’s hope that, once the dust settles and the public loses interest in the details, they will be able to resume their amicable relationship they apparently maintained right until the end.
