Model Hailey Bieber is so much more than Justin Bieber’s wife. She is a successful model and businesswoman who was famous before her superstar husband was in the picture.

Before meeting the Canadian singer, she was a successful model who snagged campaigns with UGG, Tory Burch, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace. Previously known as Hailey Baldwin, she married the popstar in 2018.

Since marrying the “Love Yourself” singer her net worth has reportedly increased ten times. At a $20 million net worth, with a significant increase within the last few years, the model’s career is only going to get better.

She was born Hailey Rhode Baldwin in Arizona, in 1996. Her father, Stephen Baldwin, is a famous actor and the youngest of the Baldwin brothers. Her uncle is 30 Rock actor Alec Baldwin and her mother, Kennya Deodato, is a graphic designer.

She was introduced to Bieber by her father in 2009. The pair reportedly dated for a short period at the end of 2015, before they got back together in June 2018 and became engaged a month later. The famous couple married in November 2018 in a secret ceremony but held a second much more extravagant wedding in September 2019.

According to several reports, Hailey Bieber’s net worth is now worth $20 million, but before marrying Justin Bieber was just $2 million.

Whilst she had a moderately successful career as a model and influencer, her profile skyrocketed after she started dating Justin Bieber. Through her work, Hailey quickly made connections, and she became good friends with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, becoming a part of the Kardashian circle.

The model was notably documented in a 2016 GQ profile of Justin Bieber as “doing nothing” in his hotel room. “No TV, no book, no phone, no computer, no music, no oil paints, nothing,” Caity Weaver wrote.

Before becoming a model, Hailey Bieber was a classically-trained ballerina who landed a place in the American Ballet Theatre summer program. She was forced to cut her career short due to an injury.

Hailey’s modeling career started when she was just a teenager after she was signed to her first modeling agency, Ford Models. She has appeared in magazines like Tatler, LOVE, V and i-D. Her first commercial campaign was for French Connection in 2014. That same year, she also made her runway debut, walking for Topshop and Sonya Rykiel.

She has also appeared in music videos and made a cameo on Saturday Night Live. She can be seen as the love interest in Australian singer Cody Simpson’s “On My Mind” music video in 2011.

She found her career in dance incredibly useful when it came to her modeling career, “I learned to be able to move really well when taking photos and modeling. It helps a lot to be able to know how to move and how to translate that in a photo.”

In an interview with Vogue Australia in 2019, Hailey opened up about her modeling career, and why she hasn’t shared the same success as her friends Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. “My burn in the modeling industry has been slow, and I’ve had to learn to be OK with that,” she explained.

Baldwin has since graced the cover of Marie Claire, Glamour and Elle — just to name a few. Back in 2018, Baldwin landed her first Vogue cover but still worries about her career in comparison to her peers.

“I’m shorter than most of the girls. Even though I’m five foot eight [inches], I’m not a runway girl and I totally used to feel inferior to some of my friends. Look at Kendall and Bells and Gig…they’re all tall and doing every runway.” She continued, “For a while, there was a part of me that didn’t know if I could have the career I wanted if I couldn’t do runway. I don’t think that anymore. I had so many people, like casting directors, say, ‘We don’t think she’s a real model.’”

She has always been an influencer and socialite. Her street style and preference for clean beauty have helped her become a style icon. Countless women dedicate their social media to recreating her quiet luxury style.

In the 2018 Netflix documentary American Meme, Hailey talked about how her experience as an influencer has impacted her professional life. “I have definitely lost jobs to girls who have more followers than I did,” she explained. “The modeling industry itself is very harsh, and not easy to be successful in, and there are girls that are getting that recognition overnight because of an app.”

Hailey Bieber launched her clean skincare brand, Rhode Skin in 2022. “My journey towards healthier skin inspired me to develop products that really work, in a way that’s accessible to everyone,” she said about her affordable skincare line.

Hailey told Forbes in 2022 that Rhode Skin was “on track” to hit eight figures, though she declined to give specific numbers. The outlet reported that the brand had a more than 700,000 waitlist for the first three products it launched.

Before she founded her own skincare line, she launched a line of handbags with the Australian brand The Daily Edited, a shoe collection with Public Desire, and a makeup collection with ModelCo. And in 2018, she did a jean collab with Rag & Bone.

Hailey also explained her “fear” that she wouldn’t be taken “seriously” because of who her husband and family are. “The thing that was on my mind was the fear of not being taken very seriously,” she said. “Does anybody even take me seriously, as a founder, as an entrepreneur?” The model admitted she put some of her own money into it, although she refused to say how much exactly.
