Unfortunately for Gomez, her fame and fortune haven’t been able to shield her from a myriad of health issues. On the bright side, Gomez has dared to use her platform to advocate for other people who have dealt with similar struggles.
On top of giving her fans with health issues someone to relate to, Gomez’s struggles are a cautionary tale about the realities of the health system. After all, when fans learn how much Gomez’s health struggles have cost, they likely will be blown away.
How Much Selena Gomez’s Mental Health Treatments Have Cost Her
Throughout much of Hollywood history, stars have done everything they can to present an image of perfection. To Selena Gomez’s great credit, however, she has long been honest with the public about her mental health issues.
In the past, Gomez has been very open about how helpful therapy and medication have been for her. However, there is no way to know what medications Gomez currently is on and how much any therapists she may have seen recently charge her.
On the other hand, specific numbers about how much some of the mental health treatments that Gomez has received are available.
In 2016, Gomez checked herself into a Tennessee rehab center to get treatment for anxiety and depression, and she stayed for 90 days. According to addictioncenter.com, an in-patient treatment like that can cost up to $60,000 for that long of a stay. However, given Gomez’s wealth, she almost certainly stayed in a more expensive facility.
Another thing to keep in mind about Gomez’s 2016 rehab stint is that she had to cancel the remainder of her Revival World Tour. While it seems certain that Gomez did the right thing by prioritizing her mental health, it is staggering to think of the financial consequences of ending a tour like that early.
Two years later, Gomez sought treatment for her mental health in another facility in February 2018. According to reports, Gomez checked into “a luxury Connecticut facility for two weeks” where “she concentrated on therapy, healthy eating, as well as meditation and pilates.”
According to the Telegraph, Gomez spent those two weeks at a facility called Privé-Swiss which charges its guests $4,000 a night.

Months later in October of that same year, Gomez sought treatment for her mental health from Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Reportedly discharged after a couple of days, she returned for further treatment the following week.
While there is no way to know how much those two stays cost Gomez, it has been reported that Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is far more expensive than other hospitals.
How Much Has Battling Lupus Cost Selena Gomez?
In 2015, Selena Gomez shocked her devoted fans with the news that she’d been diagnosed with Lupus. Since her diagnosis, Gomez has been forced to seek treatment for her Lupus several times and that has cost her a pretty penny.
Before Gomez revealed her Lupus diagnosis to the world, she checked herself into Arizona’s The Meadows treatment center where she underwent chemotherapy and got help with coming to terms with her diagnosis.
Since The Meadows doesn’t advertise its rates online, it is impossible to know exactly how much Gomez’s stay would have cost. However, it is abundantly clear that it would have been very expensive.
According to localrehabreviews.org, The Meadows charges “$1,257-$1,500 per day or $37,710 for a 30-day inpatient treatment”. However, the website worldsbest.rehab claims that The Meadows is even more expensive than that as they say a 30-day stay costs $54,000.
Three years after her stay at The Meadows, Gomez once again needed to seek help in her battle against Lupus. In 2017, complications from Lupus required Gomez to get a kidney transplant. Fortunately for Gomez, she was able to get a kidney from Francia Raisa.
Unsurprisingly, Gomez hasn’t commented on how much getting her kidney transplant cost her. However, it is possible to get some idea of how much the procedure would have cost.
According to statista.com, getting a kidney transplant cost $442,500 on average in 2020. Keeping in mind that Gomez got her kidney operation done at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, it seems almost certain that the surgery would have cost more than the average.
When looking at how much all of Gomez’s medical expenses have added up, it is important to keep in mind she can afford to have medical insurance. With that in mind, it seems very likely that a large portion of her expenses would have been covered.
That said, given Gomez’s medical history, insurance companies would almost certainly charge a lot to cover her. On top of that, taking into account the professional opportunities Gomez would have been forced to give up to get treatment, it is clear her medical issues have been very expensive.
