Lindsey Vonn and French skiing sensation Matthieu Bailet have ignited speculation about a potential romance after they were seen out and about together recently.

The 41-year-old Vonn and the 30-year-old Bailet were spotted enjoying each other’s company on Thursday, May 7, in the bustling streets of New York City. Exclusive photos obtained by Page Six captured the pair strolling through SoHo and sharing a moment as they waited for the subway.

Bailet looked dapper in a light blue button-down shirt complemented by navy trousers and a coordinating sports coat, presenting a polished appearance.

Meanwhile, Vonn opted for a chic ensemble featuring white pants and a black jacket. She was seen using crutches, still recuperating from the significant crash she endured at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy last February.

In a show of remarkable resilience, Lindsey Vonn made headlines at the 2026 Met Gala. The skiing legend, 41, made a triumphant public appearance without her crutches for the first time since her harrowing Olympic accident, gracing the red carpet at the prestigious fundraising event held on Monday, May 4, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

While neither Vonn nor Bailet have addressed their connection, they do follow each other on social media. They are both alpine ski racers and have competed in the sport’s world cup numerous times.

In addition to her outing with Bailet, Vonn attended the Met Gala earlier this week. The Olympian ditched her crutches for the first time since her Olympics crash. Vonn stunned in a custom Thom Browne gown for the event.

Ahead of the annual fundraiser, Vonn spoke about how important it was for her to attend the event without her crutches.

“I’ve been in such a different world, especially since my crash,” she told Vogue ahead of the Met Gala. “This is kind of my coming-out party — I get to be around people, wearing a dress that’s beautiful and feminine, and put my crutches down for the first time.”

Vonn continued, “Monday will be the first few steps that I take — definitely first stairs — without crutches. I’m excited, for many reasons, to get to that point.”

Vonn suffered a compound fracture and tibial plateau fracture in her left leg after crashing at the Milano Cortina Games. She underwent multiple surgeries, including one to save her leg after suffering compartment syndrome.

Days before her crash at the Olympics, Vonn tore her ACL during her race at the World Cup in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Despite the injury, she decided to still compete in the Olympics after undergoing physical tests.

Lindsey Vonn Shares Update on Her Recovery Following 2026 Winter Olympics Crash, Says She Still Can’t Stand

Lindsey Vonn gave an update on how she’s recovering after crashing during the 2026 Winter Olympics. The skier, 41, shared new details with her fans about how she’s bouncing back after sustaining a left tibia fracture during her Olympic downhill event on February 8. “Haven’t stood on my feet in over a week,” she wrote […]

“I have determined I am capable of competing in the Olympic Downhill on Sunday. Of course I will still need to do one training run, as is required to race on Sunday, but… I am confident in my body’s ability to perform,” she said ahead of the race. “Despite my injuries my knee is stable, I do not have swelling and my muscles are firing and reacting as they should. I will obviously be continuing to evaluate with my medical team on a daily basis to make sure we are making smart decisions but I have every intention of competing on Sunday.”

Following her multiple surgeries, Vonn embarked on an intense rehab plan that included hyperbaric chamber sessions and a workout regimen.

“All these things, it took time,” she said. “There were so many layers to it. That made it challenging. And then of course, when you have such slow progress, that inevitably becomes more mentally challenging as well.”
