Taylor Frankie Paul will not be facing charges in connection with her most recent alleged domestic violence incident involving her former partner, Dakota Mortensen.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, led by Sim Gill, announced their decision on April 14, after thoroughly reviewing reports and evidence presented by the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department. “After careful consideration, we have decided not to pursue charges against Taylor Frankie Paul,” the DA’s office disclosed in a statement that Us Weekly obtained.
The initial report of the incident surfaced on March 16, revealing that Taylor, 31, and Dakota, 33, were involved in a purported altercation. This incident reportedly caused a temporary suspension in the production of the fifth season of the show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. At the time, a representative from the Draper City Police Department confirmed to Us that an active “domestic assault investigation” was underway. Authorities noted that accusations had been made by both parties, with interactions occurring on February 24 and 25.
Prior to this incident, Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen, stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, were known for publicly addressing their tumultuous and often contentious relationship. Their dynamic drew attention even before the series premiered on Hulu in September 2024. The couple began dating after Taylor’s much-publicized divorce from her ex-husband, Tate Paul, setting the stage for the drama that would unfold on the show.
Three years earlier, Taylor was arrested following a separate altercation with Dakota. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault at the time, while additional charges of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief were dismissed.
After the 2023 dispute, Dakota claimed in a Daily Mail interview that Taylor would never hurt anyone “intentionally.”
“She’s a good mom, she’s going through a lot in her life right now. Taylor’s been struggling, it’s been a hard year for her. She is racked with guilt [over] her cheating scandal that cost her her marriage,” he said, referencing her divorce from Tate Paul — with whom she shares daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5 — following her soft-swinging confession.

In March 2024, Taylor and Dakota welcomed their son, Ever. Later that year, she reflected on her arrest during season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
“Getting arrested, it was the worst night of my life. I ended up being charged with aggravated assault with three years of probation,” she admitted. “After the arrest, I was under so much stress. I was filmed leaving the jail and then that was immediately on the internet. It was a blessing in disguise. It helped me wake up.”
Although Taylor and Dakota gave their relationship another shot after her arrest, the on-off couple split in 2025, and she agreed to become the lead on season 22 of The Bachelorette.
“There was no other reason for me to do this other than I wanted to get outside of Utah and the toxicity that I’m in and venture off and really do something for myself,” Taylor said in her Us cover story ahead of the ABC reality dating show’s March 22 premiere.
At the time, Taylor also addressed the ongoing strain between her and Dakota.
“It was hard because I’m, obviously, a part of that — it’s not like I am pointing the finger like, ‘He is [the toxic one].’ It takes two to tango. We were just not progressing,” she said. “We like each other sometimes, and then we fight. It’s really hard to explain to people, and unless you’ve been in that situation, it is hard to understand. If I could just snap out of it, trust me, I would. It’s just a lot harder said than done.”
Despite potential skepticism about her motivations for starring on The Bachelorette, Taylor told Us “it was a choice” to embrace the opportunity and attempt to move on from Dakota.
“Ready, at the end of the day, is a decision,” she said. “So I made the decision to leave for two months and try. I reassured [the contestants] that was why I was here.”
