Darren Steele serves as a county court judge for Martin County in Florida, having ascended to the bench in May 2009 through an appointment by then-Governor Charlie Crist. Before his judicial appointment, Steele practiced law at Watson & Steele Law Office from 2000 until his appointment in 2009. He also worked at Crary, Buchanan Law Office between 1998 and 2000. His legal career began in public service, where he honed his skills as a public defender in Florida’s 19th Judicial Circuit from 1994 to 1998.

Steele’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law. He further broadened his legal education with a summer certificate in Comparative Law, acquired through joint programs at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Guanajuato in Mexico.

Active in his professional community, Steele previously led the Martin County Bar Association and the Healthy Start Coalition as president, demonstrating his commitment to service beyond the courtroom.
