Ryan Spann Biography
Ryan Jamari Spann is an American professional mixed martial artist who is currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is also ranked among the 10 UFC light heavyweights members. Formerly, Jamari fought for the Legacy Fighting Alliance and received the Light Heavyweight Championship title. Prior to this, he was born and brought up in Westwood, Memphis, Tennessee, and started training in martial arts in his early childhood.
His professional career began in 2013 after he recorded as a Middleweight and Welterweight. He become famous after participating in the regional Legacy Fighting Championship and Legacy Fighting Alliance where he won the Light Heavyweight Championship. Apart from that, Ryan also took part in Dana White’s Contender Series. In 2017, he fought against Karl Roberson however he was defeated via knockout in the first round. He secured a position in the second round when he won after defeating Emiliano Sordi and earned himself a contract with the UFC.
Furthermore, he also faced Luis Henrique at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Anders, where he emerged as the winner of the fight. Later after, Spann fought against Antônio Rogério Nogueira and won the fight via knockout in the first round. On top of this, he also won against Devin Clark at UFC Fight Night: Joanna vs. Waterson. In 2020, he was knocked down in the third round by Sam Alvey at UFC 249. Despite that, Spann was declared the winner via split decision, and later after he faced Johnny Walker at UFC Fight Night 176.

In addition to that, Ryan also fought against Misha Cirkunov and won the fight which earned him a Night bonus award. A few months later, he faced Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night 192 and lost to him in the first round. Next, he earned himself a Night bonus award after he won against Ion Cuțelaba at UFC on ESPN 36. After that, he went on to face Dominick Reyes in November 2022 at UFC 281 and emerged as the winner after the knockout in the first round.
As of 2023, he was scheduled to face Nikita Krylovat at UFC Fight Night 220, however, it had to be canceled after Krylov fell ill with a foodborne illness. The match was postponed ahead and he lost the fight via a triangle choke submission in the first round. Moreover, he has a UFC record of 7 wins and 3 losses in the UFC.
