In Florida, a man is accused of attempting to murder his wife through various violent means, including aiming a firearm at her head and pulling the trigger, only to realize he had neglected to load the magazine.
Fael Francois, aged 67, faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and domestic violence battery. Based on a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the altercation unfolded on a Friday evening at a residence located in the 1100 block of NW 114th Street in Miami.
The wife recounted that she was asleep when her husband tried to suffocate her with a pillow, obstructing her ability to breathe. After she managed to rise from the bed, Francois allegedly grabbed her arms, shook her forcefully, and struck her face several times, as detailed in the affidavit.
Managing to escape once more, she reached out to her sister for help. At this point, Francois reportedly seized a gun, aimed it at her, and declared, “today, you are going to die,” before pulling the trigger. However, the weapon did not fire as it lacked both a chambered round and an inserted magazine.
Officers reported that Francois exclaimed, “Oh s—, it’s not working,” upon realizing the gun’s incapacitation.
Francois then allegedly hit his wife with an unknown object, causing a laceration on her left arm. The victim ran out of the home and hid behind a shed while she called cops.
Officers responded to the home and arrested Francois. He denied all the allegations against him in an interview with authorities.
As of Monday afternoon, he was in the Miami-Dade County Jail without bond. He does not have a future court date listed. Per the affidavit, he was born in Haiti and works as a security guard.
