GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Last night, Trevor Kerone McAdam, a 37-year-old from Tallahassee, found himself behind bars following accusations of attempting to steal a motorcycle and moped from Publix employees, in addition to efforts to break into two ATM machines.
The incident unfolded around 10:43 p.m. on July 18, prompting a response from the Gainesville Police Department at the Publix located on 1302 N. Main Street. Surveillance footage reportedly captured McAdam in the act of trying to pilfer vehicles belonging to store staff and tamper with ATM panels. When the store’s manager confronted him, he bolted.
Police soon encountered a person matching the manager’s description. Upon questioning, the individual allegedly admitted to fiddling with the ATM, citing a lack of a bank card. As he attempted to slip away, officers detained him with handcuffs.
Reviewing the store’s security footage, an officer documented the suspect’s attempts to access two locked vehicles and breach the ATM machines’ panels before he was intercepted by the manager.
McAdam reportedly offered a fake name and incorrect Social Security number to the officers. However, his true identity was confirmed through fingerprinting at the jail.
McAdam, whose address is listed as Tallahassee, has been charged with two counts of burglary of an occupied structure, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, and providing false identification information to a law enforcement officer. His full criminal history is currently unavailable, but he has two felony convictions (including burglary and property damage) and six misdemeanor convictions in Leon County. Judge Phillip Pena set bail at $52,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
