Police swiftly uncovered the gruesome truth, apprehending Parker, now 33, on the very same day, thereby making her the youngest woman sentenced to death in Texas.

The mom of two—who had undergone a hysterectomy years earlier—pulled off the con by using a silicone belly and ultrasound that she’d purchased online, authorities noted in the court documents. She also kept Wade away by claiming she was insecure about her changing body.
“During that summer, our time together was very limited,” Wade explained in the documentary. “She never hardly ever wanted me to see her naked or anything because she said she was insecure because of her stretch marks. We never really did anything at all, pretty much.”
Doctor Knew Taylor Parker Was Lying About Her Pregnancy
As news of the pregnancy spread in the small Texas community, there were some who knew Taylor was lying.
One obvious person was OB/GYN Dr. Christopher Mason, the doctor who performed a tubal ligation on Taylor in 2014 and also knew that she later underwent a hysterectomy after suffering complications from an ectopic pregnancy.
Taylor worked at the Mount Pleasant OBGYN office after her surgery and the doctor testified that he saw Taylor’s social media post, including an ultrasound from his office, claiming she was pregnant, per KTAL.
Though he knew it wasn’t possible for her to be pregnant, he said he was prevented from saying anything due to privacy laws. He testified in court that he did call the hospital to alert them to take extra precautions to keep the babies in the nursery safe.
“There was no indication that a crime was going to be committed,” he said on the stand. “We just wanted to make sure our babies were going to be safe in our hospital.”
He added in the Netflix documentary that the staff was concerned because they “felt like she had to come up with a baby somehow.”
Taylor Parker’s Ex-Husband, Friends Tried to Intervene
Taylor’s ex-husband Hunter Parker also testified that he didn’t learn she wasn’t able to have children until after they got married, according to KTAL. He told the court, the outlet noted, that Parker had tried to convince him to hire a surrogate.
The marriage eventually fell apart, but when he learned she was claiming to be pregnant in the spring of 2020, Hunter said he reached out to Wade’s brother to warn him, the news outlet reported.
He wasn’t the only one who tried to expose the truth. Stephanie Ott—who befriended Taylor after she began dating Wade—testified that she offered to help with a March 2020 gender reveal party for the couple, but grew suspicious when Taylor sent her a note from the “Northeast Texas Women’s Clinic” revealing the gender of the baby with the date listed as 2016, KTAL reported.
“So I call her and I said, ‘Are you sure this is the right paper?’ and she said, ‘Let me call my doctor right now,’” Stephanie remembered in the documentary. “Well, it seemed like 30 seconds may have passed by and she said, ‘There were over 200 or 100 misprints that day in the lab, so they’re going to send a new one, but she did say that the gender is right.’”
Stephanie knew something was off and later called the lab herself. A employee told her they “don’t send things like that,” so Stephanie called the women’s clinic to find out more and spoke to the office manager, according to Maternal Instinct. Though the manager couldn’t reveal details of Taylor’s health records, Stephanie said she told her to “just go with your gut.”
Stephanie said she shared her concerns with Wade’s mother, Connie Griffin, but neither knew quite what to make of it.
“The gender reveal? Her dad was there, her kids were there,” Connie explained. “I mean, you know, in your mind you think why are they here if it’s not true? I mean, they would know.”

Still, Stephanie couldn’t shake her suspicions and reached out to Taylor’s former friend McKenzie Bright, who told her that Taylor had a hysterectomy, according to the documentary.
“I mean, the word got out,” McKenzie explained in Maternal Instinct. “All the people that knew started you know within their own inner circles going, ‘She can’t be pregnant.’ But again, it was kind of her thing to get just far away where I can tell these lies again.”
Connie said the family had no idea what Taylor was going to do next and believed “at some point she’s going to have to fake a miscarriage.” Yet, that never happened.
Though Connie heard about the hysterectomy, she still had nothing in writing or had anything from a doctor and couldn’t be sure it wasn’t just a rumor. Still, she tried to talk about her concerns with Wade.
“Well, I would put questions in his mind. He would listen to me,” Connie remembered in the doc. “He would relay the questions I had to her, but she always had a counter to everything I presented, she countered it. So it was a tug of war between she and I.”
According to Wade, Taylor told him that she didn’t think Connie wanted them to be happy.
Stephanie eventually confirmed the hysterectomy with Taylor’s mom, but when she tried to tell Wade the truth, he was convinced Taylor’s mom had been lying, creating a rift between the two families.
How Was Taylor Parker Finally Caught?
It all came to a tragic conclusion on October 9, 2020 when, feeling the pressure to produce a baby, Taylor killed Reagan, one of her bridal photography clients.
According to court records, Taylor was pulled over for driving erratically less than an hour later and claimed she’d just delivered herself. She was arrested after doctors at the hospital discovered that she’d never given birth.
Taylor was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in November 2022. In May, the U.S. Supreme Court denied a request to review Parker’s case, per the Texarkana Gazette.
According to Connie, Wade still faces backlash for his girlfriend’s crimes and his inability to see the truth.
“I’ve watched him cry and cry,” she said in Maternal Instinct. “People were so angry at what had happened and I didn’t blame them. They avoid him. They turn and walk the other way. And it’s hard everywhere he goes. It never goes away. It never will.”
Reagan’s family is hoping to create more legislation to protect pregnant mothers in the wake of the tragedy, according to People.
As her sister Emily Shirey remarked, “Then my sister’s murder will not have been in vain.”
