LEBANON, Va. (WJHL) – In a disturbing case out of Honaker, Virginia, a woman faces grave charges following a tragic incident. The Russell County Sheriff’s Office has charged Amanda Christina Hawkins with first-degree murder, accusing her of poisoning an individual in November 2025.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 45-year-old Hawkins has been charged by warrant and is facing several serious accusations. In addition to first-degree murder, she is also charged with two counts of distributing Schedule II controlled substances and money laundering, highlighting the complexity of the alleged criminal activities.
The investigation into this case remains active and is being pursued with vigor by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. They are receiving crucial support from the Holston River Regional Drug Task Force as they work to unravel the details surrounding this grave incident.
Russell County Sheriff Bill Watson emphasized the dedication of his office in addressing this matter. “Our office worked diligently to investigate and used every resource to bring Ms. Hawkins to justice,” he stated, reinforcing their commitment to community safety.
Amanda Hawkins is currently detained at the Abingdon Regional Jail, held without bond as she awaits her day in court. Her arraignment is scheduled for June 16, where more light may be shed on the charges she faces.
