Gabourey Sidibe recently took to social media to address comments she received about her young twins.

Over the weekend, the actress responded to critiques on Instagram Threads, where people had made remarks regarding her 23-month-old twins’ hair.

Sidibe was unequivocal in her response, emphasizing that unsolicited opinions about her children are unwelcome.

“If you comment, telling me to do my toddlers’ hair, I’m blocking you,” she declared.

She further clarified that while her children’s hair is indeed cared for, the nature of their day-to-day activities influences its appearance.

“Their hair is always brushed, but they are active toddlers who play hard and aggressively launch into Head Shoulders Knees and Toes during lunch, so they get ketchup and eggs in it, so we sometimes do their hair several times a day.”

She also shared that she styles her daughter’s hair, but it comes undone.

“My daughter’s hair is braided every week and when it gets fuzzy in an hour I don’t immediately rebraid it because I didn’t have kids for the esthetic[sic],” she wrote.

Sidibe closed her message by pushing back on the pressure to present perfectly groomed children at all times.

“So in closing, let’s keep it cute cuz[sic] I’m fighting for my life as it is and trying to impress the timeline with constantly manicured children isn’t on my list of chores,” she said.

She ended on a lighter note, joking that her cat would be “debuting” fresh box braids after a birthday trip.

Sidibe shares her twins, Cooper and Maya, with her husband Brandon Frankel.

The actress has often shared candid moments from life at home. In February, she posted photos of her twins wearing her wigs and joked, “My head looks like this so that their heads can look this.”

Frankel reacted in the comments at the time, writing, “You know you love them cuz you let them wear ya good wigs.”
