Love Island fans often find themselves wondering about the voice behind the witty commentary. That voice belongs to none other than Scottish comedian Iain Stirling, who has become an indispensable part of both the UK and USA versions of the hit reality show. Despite his lighthearted delivery, Stirling adheres to a demanding routine during the show’s filming.
In an interview with TODAY in 2024, Stirling shared a glimpse into his packed schedule: “Every day, I log on to Love Island UK by noon UK time. By then, the day’s episode is nearly complete. I spend two to three hours writing, wrapping up around 4 or 4:30. After that, it’s family time—dinner, bath, and bedtime for the kids. My life might not be rock ‘n’ roll, but it’s fulfilling. Later in the evening, around 8:30, I shift gears to work on Love Island USA, which is early morning in Fiji.”
According to executive producer Mike Parrish, who spoke to The Wrap, Stirling reviews a rough cut of the episodes over Zoom from his home. He collaborates with the writers to highlight amusing moments or key story developments, all while recording his narration on his home microphone. This narration is seamlessly integrated into the episodes.
Before the episodes make it to air, they undergo a final review by Peacock’s legal and standards team. Occasionally, this team provides feedback that prompts last-minute revisions to ensure everything is shipshape for broadcast.

“We’d try to finish by about 12 or 1 in the morning, then I’d stay up till half to 3 — which is still not the end of the show for the U.S.,” Stirling told TODAY. “In a dream world, I’d be staying up ‘til like, 5, 6, in the morning, but that would basically involve me never sleeping.”
Proof that the franchise can produce a forever bond: Stirling married former Love Island UK host Laura Whitmore in 2020 and they welcomed a daughter in March 2021.
