ABC is leaning into a night of major returns. First, 16 fresh celebrity contestants will hit the ballroom floor for a brand-new season of Dancing with the Stars, ready to show off their moves and compete for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
Hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are back to guide viewers through the competition. This season’s lineup includes Summer House fan favorite Ciara Miller, The Traitors breakout Maura Higgins, musician Taylor Hanson, former The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Tatyana Ali, and Julia Stiles, known for 10 Things I Hate About You and Save the Last Dance.
The two-hour season opener will spotlight the male celebrity competitors before the women take the ballroom stage on Wednesday, September 16. Once Dancing with the Stars wraps, ABC will debut Season 2 of Scott Speedman’s crime drama R.J. Decker. Viewers who miss the live broadcast can stream both series the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Meanwhile, fans of another ABC Tuesday favorite, High Potential, are looking ahead. The Kaitlin Olson-led procedural concluded its second season in April 2026, raising the question: When will Season 3 arrive?
Is High Potential Airing a New Episode Tonight (September 15)?
Not tonight. ABC’s schedule is filled with the season premieres of Dancing with the Stars and R.J. Decker, airing from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET.
Will High Potential Be Back For Season 3?
The good news is that High Potential has officially been renewed. ABC picked up the series for Season 3 in March, while also confirming a change behind the scenes: Poker Face writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman will take over as showrunners. Previous showrunner Todd Harthan is departing to develop a live-action adaptation of the YA book series The Inheritance Cycle.
High Potential Season 3 Release Date Info:
The less welcome update for fans: High Potential will not air new episodes during the fall television season.
Disney announced during its Upfront presentation that High Potential, Will Trent, and The Rookie are all being held for midseason launches. As a result, each of the three ABC dramas is expected to return with original episodes in 2027.

ABC has not yet set official premiere dates. Still, the network’s top dramas are widely expected to return in early January, with High Potential and Will Trent likely reclaiming Tuesday nights. On Mondays, The Rookie and The Rookie: North are expected to air back-to-back.
Will Steve Howey Return For High Potential Season 3?
Season 3 will also bring a notable cast change. Following the Season 2 finale, it was announced that Steve Howey will not return as a series regular. However, Deadline reports that he may appear as a guest star at the beginning of the next season to conclude his character’s storyline.
