NEW YORK (WSAV) – On Thursday, Alex Murdaugh’s legal team appeared on The Today Show after the S.C. Supreme Court overturned his double murder conviction earlier in the week.
Murdaugh’s lawyers, Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, talked with NBC’s Craig Melvin and said their client will never take a plea deal.
The landmark overturning of the case came almost 5 years to the day from when Murdaugh’s wife Maggie and son Paul were killed at their Colleton County home.
Harpootlian and Griffin said Murdaugh wants to go to trial again. He was sentenced to 27 years in state prison for the murders. Murdaugh will still serve the 40-year federal prison sentence he received for financial crimes.
