(NewsNation) — Ariana Grande is stepping into a well-deserved pause from her bustling career.
The pop sensation, famous for hits like “Into You,” has announced her decision to withdraw from an upcoming London stage musical. This hiatus comes as she seeks to escape the relentless public eye and find some tranquility amid intense scrutiny.
“Following the conclusion of the ‘Eternal Sunshine Tour,’ Ariana will be reducing her public appearances,” her representative shared with People Magazine.
The spokesperson elaborated, “She eagerly anticipates wrapping up the tour on a high note, keeping her health and happiness in focus, before taking a breather from the public spotlight, which has brought about continuous scrutiny. This tour has been incredibly fulfilling for her. Ariana deeply appreciates her supporters and has cherished every moment on the tour.”
Grande was to star in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” alongside her “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey, next summer, but pulled out of the production, the musical’s producers said.
Fans worry about Ariana Grande’s appearance
At the start of the “Eternal Sunshine Tour” in June, fans expressed concern over the performer’s appearance, suggesting that she looked very thin.
Last week, she released the music video “petal,” off her newly released album of the same name.
The video sparked even more backlash over Grande’s appearance, with fans accusing her team of not protecting her.
“At this point, I’m judging her team, friends, and family. This is insane,” one commenter under the YouTube video wrote.
Another said, “It’s not about wanting the old Ariana back. It’s about wanting her to be healthy.”
A person close to the actress and singer told People, “She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high-level night after night.”
“The Eternal Sunshine Tour” has its last show scheduled for Sept. 1.
