Bomb Threat Cleared: Sheriff’s Office Resolves Scare at Lee County Walmart

LEE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A tense situation at a Walmart in Lee County, Virginia, concluded peacefully as authorities confirmed no explosives were discovered following a bomb threat.

The unsettling episode unfolded when the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported via social media that a bomb threat had been made toward the Walmart in Jonesville on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after the threat, the sheriff’s office announced the store’s closure around 4:25 p.m., advising the public to keep their distance as law enforcement assessed the situation.

By 7:51 p.m., officials assured the community that the store had been thoroughly checked and declared safe, with no explosives found. The sheriff’s office then indicated it was secure for patrons to return.

The Virginia State Police assisted the sheriff’s office in clearing the Walmart, as well as the Bristol, Tennessee Police Department and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
