Augusta University proudly kicked off its commencement ceremonies this Friday, marking a significant milestone for many students.
The event took place at the Marriott Hotel within the Convention Center in Downtown Augusta, where undergraduate degrees were conferred in two separate ceremonies.
For some graduates, the day held profound personal significance. “It’s incredible,” shared AU graduate Madden Jones. “I was out with my dad last night, and he reminded me that I’m the first Jones in our family to graduate. It’s not just a personal achievement but a victory for my entire family, as they feel they’ve reached a new milestone too.”
Reflecting on the journey, fellow graduate Mark Stilgenbauer noted, “People often think the five-year journey is filled with easy classes, but it’s the daily grind that’s challenging. Waking up at 5 or 6 a.m. for classes, standing through lectures, then heading straight to work—it’s a demanding schedule.”
In total, 680 students celebrated their academic achievements by walking across the stage, as confirmed by university administrators. Congratulations to all the graduates!
