A repeat offender, displaying a chilling smile, made his initial court appearance on Saturday after being accused of fatally pushing a retired elderly teacher down a subway stairway in New York City.
Rhamell Burke, who has been arrested four times since February, appeared unrepentant as he faced murder charges in the seemingly random assault on 76-year-old retired teacher Ross Falzone.

Just hours before the tragic incident on Thursday evening at a Chelsea subway station, 32-year-old Burke had been discharged from Bellevue Hospital.
Prosecutors in Manhattan revealed that surveillance footage captured Burke trailing the victim, describing the violent act as “completely unprovoked.”
During the hearing, the judge deemed Burke a flight risk, given his history of criminal activity, which included four open cases at the time of Falzone’s death, and ordered him to be held without bail.
