Generac Power Systems is urging consumers to be cautious as it recalls specific models of its portable generators. The recall stems from a significant safety concern: a potential fuel leak that could ignite, resulting in fire hazards and burn injuries.
In a recent announcement, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission highlighted the risk associated with these generators. The issue arises from the carburetor, which can leak fuel when the generator is initially filled with gasoline. This defect poses a serious threat of injury or even death due to potential fires or burns.
Generac has assured consumers that if their generators have been filled with gasoline and are not currently experiencing any fuel leaks, they can continue to use the equipment safely. However, they should remain vigilant for any signs of leakage.
Consumers who have already filled their generator and have not experienced any fuel leakage may continue to use the unit.
