In Marion, Virginia, a local man has been handed a 21-year sentence in a state prison following serious drug-related charges, including the distribution of fentanyl classified as a weapon of terrorism. The sentencing took place on Tuesday.

Anthony Charles Scott, aged 38 from Cleghorn Valley, received the sentence in the Smyth County Circuit Court. His conviction followed a series of controlled drug purchases by undercover narcotics officers, who bought methamphetamine from Scott four times within just two weeks in July 2025, according to the Commonwealth’s account.

Authorities reported the confiscation of over 180 grams of methamphetamine and almost 6 grams of fentanyl during their investigation.

Scott faced multiple charges, including four counts of drug distribution, two counts of methamphetamine trafficking into the state, and one count of using fentanyl as a weapon of terrorism.

After serving his prison term, Scott will be subjected to an additional 189 years of suspended incarceration, contingent upon his adherence to the terms of supervised probation. Moreover, he is required to pay $7,550 in fines and restitution to the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office. The court also confiscated $2,328 from Scott, money he reportedly gained through drug trafficking activities.
