Niantic Resident Faces Charges for Allegedly Setting Home Ablaze

NIANTIC, Ill. (WCIA) — A resident of Niantic has been charged with arson after authorities from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office alleged he intentionally set his home ablaze.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Jessie McDaniel is facing two felony charges related to a fire that erupted on Saturday afternoon on North Street. During his initial court appearance on Monday, McDaniel was formally charged and denied the opportunity for pretrial release.

A deputy’s affidavit details that the Sheriff’s Office received a request to conduct a welfare check on McDaniel at his residence on North Street.
