In Buncombe County, North Carolina, authorities have charged two individuals in connection with a tragic triple murder that came to light on Thursday.
According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on Ashworth Drive in Fairview at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Upon entering the residence, officers discovered three individuals who had been fatally shot.
The deceased were identified as Travis Eugene Grant, aged 41, his spouse Kimberly Michelle Grant, aged 42, and Sharon Harwood Grant, aged 66, who was Travis Grant’s mother.
Officials reported that a 16-year-old from the household, Star Grant, had initially been reported missing but was subsequently found early Friday in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, alongside a man named Devan Oneal Loving.
Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said they traveled to Tennessee to continue the investigation.
After interviewing the suspects, investigators charged Star Grant and Loving with first degree murder and felony conspiracy to commit murder. Grant has been charged as an adult, officials said.
Officials said the two will have an extradition hearing in Tennessee before being brought to Buncombe County.
Multiple agencies are assisting Buncombe County investigators in the case, including the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Gatlinburg Police Department.
