As we move through the rest of today and into the evening, Savannah and the surrounding areas might experience some isolated thunderstorms. These storms could bring brief periods of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. The night will be warm and humid, with temperatures only dipping to the mid-70s.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, residents should brace for another day of intense heat and humidity, with heat index values potentially reaching a sweltering 110 degrees. Alongside this oppressive heat, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon and evening hours. Some of these storms may become strong to severe due to the high heat and atmospheric instability, potentially bringing gusty winds. A similar weather pattern is anticipated for Monday.

Change is on the horizon by Tuesday when a cold front is expected to approach the region. This front will increase the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, lasting into Wednesday. The accompanying rain will provide some relief from the heat, as temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 80s for a couple of days.

However, this cooler spell will be short-lived. By the end of the week, temperatures are set to rise again into the low to mid-90s, with the typical chances of isolated thunderstorms making a comeback during the afternoon and evening.

In tropical weather news, there is an area of interest with a low 20% chance of development over the next week. This system is linked to a broad low-pressure area in the southwestern Gulf, currently generating disorganized showers and thunderstorms off the coast of eastern Mexico. It is expected to move inland over eastern Mexico by early Sunday, and as such, it is not anticipated to affect our local weather conditions.
