YOUNITE debuted with BRANDNEW MUSIC on April 20 with an EP called Youni-Birth. The K-pop group is made up of nine members: Eunho, Eunsang, Steve, Hyunseung, Hyungseok, Woono, DEY, Kyungmun, and Sion.
Youni-Birth consists of six tracks, most notably the song “1 of 9,” which gives fans an introduction to the members. Following the release of Youni-Birth, Showbiz Cheat Sheet emailed YOUNITE questions about their debut, and Eunho, Eunsang, Steve, Hyunseung, Hyungseok, DEY, Kyungmun, and Sion sent some answers back.

YOUNITE’s debut EP is called ‘Youni-Birth’
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: You just released your first EP Youni-Birth. How are you feeling about your debut?
Eunho: It’s a moment we’ve all been dreaming of. I’m nervous, but I look forward to showing my best because it is only the beginning for us.
Eunsang: Our fans, YOUNIZ, are already supporting us and sending so much love. We’re motivated by their support and love.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What goals do you want to achieve with Youni-Birth?
Hyunseung: I know we just debuted, but with this album, I hope we can get into the top chart on music shows, or even win the No. 1 on music shows!
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: You released a music video for the song “Everybody” before releasing Youni-Birth. The song is about taking time away to focus on what makes you happy. Outside of YOUNITE, what are some hobbies that you enjoy?
Kyungmun: I would usually sleep and eat good food on my rest day. Also, I got a new hobby these days: jewel stitching.
Sion: I enjoy watching video content, such as drama, movies, or just funny videos.

‘1 of 9’ is the EP’s lead single
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: The album’s song “1 of 9” helps introduce YOUNITE to fans. What is one thing each of you want YOUNIZ to know about you as individuals?
Steve: The reason why the line “I know it’s not easy” is significant is that because all nine of us have so many charms, we understand how hard it will be to choose one from nine of us. I hope you’re not too stressed, and take your time to pick your member!
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Do you have any funny stories or memorable moments from filming the music video for “1 of 9”?
Hyungseok: I actually was surprised by a hidden camera while shooting the “1 of 9” music video! I fell asleep for a while during break time since the shooting lasted until late at night. Members soon woke me up and said the shooting was finished, so I got up to change clothes and head back to the dorm. That’s when everyone started laughing, and I realized the shooting was still happening, and they played a hidden camera on me.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Do any of you have a favorite song on Youni-Birth? If so, why is it your favorite?
DEY: I want to recommend “EVERYBODY” to our fans because it represents our free-spirited and powerful energy very well. You can really see our true charms in this track!
Sion: My favorite track is “RING RING RING”! It’s a calm song, but it also delivers a popping and bright vibe every time I listen to it. It makes me feel good whenever I listen to it!

YOUNITE share their future goals
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Looking ahead, what do you want to accomplish the next year as YOUNITE?
Hyunseung: We want to show everything we’ve been preparing to more fans. I also hope we win the Rookie of the Year award by showing our improvements in every performance!
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Looking even further ahead, what do you hope people are saying about YOUNITE in five years?
Eunho: I hope YOUNITE will be remembered as the one and only with a unique color. We want to be a team with our own energy and vibe.
Eunsang: I can see YOUNITE as a more mature, improved group in five years. I also hope YOUNITE will be able to share true feelings and sincerity through music. I hope our music can really speak for itself and deliver sincere messages to all listeners.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What is the most important lesson you have learned from one another since becoming YOUNITE?
DEY: Of course, we’re all different individuals, so our personalities and ways of living are very different. However, we learned how to respect and care for each other by living together in one house.
Kyungmun: I learned the passion and courage to challenge myself from other members.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What do you think makes the nine of you such a good team?
Eunsang: First of all, thank you very much for saying that we’re a good team. We try for and are motivated by each other, and I think it contributes to the factor that we’re building the team we have now. We will work hard to be a team of individuals who can spread positive messages and effects in the future.
Hyungseok: I think a close relationship among all nine members also helped a lot in the process of coming together as a team. And because we have two leaders, it can be easier than one person leading the other eight members.
