WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced the indictment of David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci, accusing him of concealing records during investigations into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Morens, aged 78, faces several charges, including conspiracy against the United States, destruction and alteration of records in federal investigations, concealment and removal of records, and aiding and abetting.
He was a senior advisor to Dr. Fauci from 2006 until 2022.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche commented on the situation, stating, “These allegations signify a significant breach of trust during a critical time when the American public relied heavily on transparency — the height of a global pandemic.”
Blanche added, “According to the indictment, Dr. Morens and his co-conspirators intentionally hid information and falsified records to suppress alternative theories about the origins of COVID-19. Government officials are entrusted with the responsibility to deliver honest, factual information in the public’s interest, not to push personal or ideological motives.”
