Georgia Republican Criticizes Trump’s AI Jesus Post and Comments on Iran

Rep. Austin Scott, a Republican from Georgia, voiced his disapproval of President Trump’s recent actions on Tuesday, particularly taking issue with threats made against Iran and a provocative social media post likening himself to Jesus.

“I wish I could address this privately, but that’s not possible. Therefore, I must publicly state that the Easter Sunday message threatening to destroy an entire civilization is unacceptable,” Scott remarked, referring to a post on Truth Social where Trump ominously stated that “a whole civilization will die tonight” unless “something revolutionarily wonderful” happens.

Scott further criticized Trump for sharing a digitally altered image of himself as Jesus. “Posting a picture portraying yourself as Jesus is not okay,” he added.

In his comments, Scott advised White House officials to reflect on the biblical teachings, saying, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs would inform you of this, and Galatians warns that God will not be mocked.”

Scott’s remarks join a growing number of conservative voices expressing concern over Trump’s decision to post the AI-generated image, which shows him depicted as Jesus performing a miracle.

The image, posted Sunday on Truth Social, showed him in a religious garb with his hand on a sick man’s head. It displayed him surrounded by his followers, an American flag, eagles and the Statue of Liberty, along with other figures in the sky. The post was eventually deleted.

Trump shared the post shortly after posting a lengthy statement criticizing Pope Leo XIV, who has been a vocal opponent of the president’s war with Iran.

Trump on Monday said he thought the photo was depicting him as a doctor.

“I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with the Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support,” Trump told reporters outside of the Oval Office.
