An unforgettable moment unfolded at Houston’s Toyota Center on Friday night when LeBron James set up his son, Bronny James Jr., with an alley-oop pass that resulted in a stunning reverse layup during the second quarter of Game 3 in their playoff series.
This historic play, taking place with 7:14 left in the second quarter, marked the first-ever assist from a father to his son in the annals of NBA Playoff history.
Bronny made a significant impact during his six-minute stint in the second quarter, contributing five points. This included a dazzling stepback three-pointer that electrified the crowd, effectively turning the Toyota Center into a de facto home arena for the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the stakes, the venue was noticeably underfilled for what was arguably the season’s most pivotal game for the Rockets.
LeBron James recently expressed how surreal it felt to play alongside his son in the NBA Playoffs, watched by his mother, Gloria, his wife, Savannah, and daughter, Zhuri.
“Being on the court with my son in a playoff game is probably the most extraordinary experience of my career,” James shared after Game 1 in Los Angeles last Saturday. “It’s incredible that my mom got to witness both her son and grandson playing in the playoffs. That’s just unbelievable.”
The Lakers lead the best-of-seven series 2-0, and currently lead at halftime of Game 3, 63-52.
