An agent from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was struck by a suspect’s vehicle and discharged their firearm during an attempted arrest in New Jersey on Monday morning, according to officials. The suspect managed to evade capture and remains at large.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Route 72 in Manahawkin. Federal immigration agents were in the process of apprehending a suspect when the situation took a dramatic turn, as reported by the Stafford Township Police Department.
Authorities stated that during the confrontation, the suspect allegedly hit an ICE agent with their vehicle while trying to escape.
In response, the ICE agent fired at the vehicle, which was struck by the bullets. However, the suspect succeeded in fleeing and, as of Monday afternoon, had not been found, officials reported.
