For Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, crossing the political aisle apparently does not extend to her dating life.
The newly single New York Democrat opened up about her romantic outlook Tuesday after being asked whether she could see herself dating a conservative.
“I have to say, probably not,” Ocasio-Cortez said with a laugh during a brief exchange with TMZ, following her split from longtime fiancé Riley Roberts.
The congresswoman stressed that she was not criticizing people who do pursue relationships across political lines, noting that the meaning of “conservative” can vary widely. Still, she told the outlet outside the Capitol that, for her, politics is often tied closely to personal values — and shared values matter deeply in a relationship.

Her comments come after The Post reported last month that the 36-year-old member of “The Squad” had quietly ended her relationship with Roberts, around the same time she publicly shared on Instagram that she was beginning the process of freezing her eggs.
The Bronx-born pol was all smiles in mid-August as she stepped out sans engagement ring while walking her dog in Queens.
AOC and TMZ also discussed having kids while in office — as rumors swirl that she’s seeking a 2028 presidential run.
“For me, I make decisions about my whole life, it’s not ever just in a career context. It’s about how do I fit all of these things?” she said. “And I feel like my ambition is not just a career ambition, it’s about how do we get to soak up as much of this life as possible?”
“I was always raised as a family-first kind of person,” she added.
