In a dramatic turn of events in Midfield, Alabama, law enforcement officers successfully apprehended an escapee from Perry County on Sunday. The Midfield Police Department confirmed the arrest, which occurred after a routine patrol encountered a stolen vehicle.
Around 4:30 p.m., officers patrolling the 600 block of Bessemer Super Highway were notified by the cutting-edge Flock System, which had identified a stolen 2012 Acura. The vehicle was reported stolen in Selma just the day before, on Saturday.
Upon investigation, officers identified the driver as Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., who was not only linked to the stolen vehicle but was also a fugitive wanted by the US Marshals Office for escaping custody. This fortuitous encounter led to Bush’s immediate arrest.
Bush now faces charges of receiving stolen property and is being held at Jefferson County Jail. He is set to be extradited back to Perry County to face further legal proceedings.
Midfield Police Chief Michael Jeffries highlighted the significance of this arrest, attributing it to the advanced technology and proactive policing strategies employed by his team. “This demonstrates the value of modern technology and proactive policing efforts,” Chief Jeffries stated. “The Flock System continues to be an effective tool in helping our officers apprehend perpetrators and enhance public safety. We are proud of the professionalism displayed by our officers and our partnership with our law enforcement partners.”
