Boxing legend George Foreman died, his family announced on Friday. He was 76.

The family of the legendary heavyweight champion, George Edward Foreman Sr., sadly announced his peaceful passing on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. In a statement shared on Instagram, they expressed their profound sorrow.

Described as a devout preacher, a dedicated husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, George Foreman Sr.’s life was characterized by his unwavering faith, humility, and sense of purpose.

They continued, “A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world.”

He was held in high regard as a man of principle and discipline, who was committed to safeguarding his honorable reputation for the sake of his family. George Foreman Sr. was recognized as a positive influence, a stalwart protector of his legacy, and a relentless advocate for his loved ones.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own,” they concluded their caption alongside a family photo.

Foreman, who was the face of the iconic George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine, participated in two of the most important boxing events of all time — “The Fight of the Century” against Joe Frazier in 1971 and “The Rumble in the Jungle” against Muhammad Ali in 1974.
